Just as a fyi- Vichan is really broke on php 8. Php 7.4 is counting down to no more support in a couple years. Meanwhile, TinyIB has more features such as the ability to hide post form elements and also has moderation which other boards never had. Tinyib has muliti mode like flatfile sqlite3 and pdo- vichan never had multi modes. Looks like tinyib IS future proof, in fact the ONLY future proof php imageboard. Tinyib is therefore probably the best choice for php imageboards.
In the future, re-coding some of tiny ib to take full advantage of php8 would be amazing. It should make tinyib faster and more efficient. Having the 3 modes is awesome, but maybe as an idea dump flatfile and sqlite 3, just keep pdo, and enable the advanced php 8 capabilities on that mode? Possibly, even splitting tinyib into 3 versions- one seperate version for each mode would make it easier to maintain each version while keeping up with php 8 features? Just an idea.
Just some ideas for you. Tinyib is REALLY awesome tho, it gets the job done. It is more fully featured than any other php imageboard as is..so instead of trying to ad tons of new features maybe it would be smarter to think about making it php8 capable- like make it so it can take advantage of php 8 JIT and Caching, (new versions of php 8 will have more of both).

I think tinyib is the best, it is a reliable work horse. Why don't you make a blog post somewhere like in the readme of what kind of financial support you are looking for with tiny ib, then the hardcore fans of tinyib might be able to work together to finance future dev!
